Scrapbooking Business - 5 Things You Must Have Online

These days your scrapbooking business is going to need to be on the internet. For traditional scrapbooking it’s an important way of showing people what you can do and keeping in touch with your customers. It’s difficult to imagine how you would run a digital scrapbooking business without some kind of site.

So what do you need to do to make that site a success? To make sure it’s working for you 24/7?

1. You need to come across as a pro, not an amateur, so a proper dot com domain name is vital. Here’s a choice, you can buy from “myscrapblog.somefreesite.ty” or “myscrapsite.com” which are you going to look at as more professional, more trust-worty?

It costs less than ten dollars a year for a dot com. Why wouldn’t you get one?

2. Pro hosting. Free hosting means it isn’t in your control. They can show adverst for whatever they like. Could be your competition, could be things you’d rather not be associated with. People mostly hate pop-up ads and at the very least they’re distracting. Pro hosting can be as little as six or seven dollars a month. If you think that’s expensive, skip a pizza!

3. You need excellent design. As a scrapbooker you have the advantage over a lot of people but make sure your appearance is really professional. This is one of the reasons I recommend blogging rather than a traditional site. Thousands of blog themes are available to give your scrapbooking business a really great look - at mostly for free. By comparison a traditional website can be challenging to put together well.

4. You need a way to grab people’s details. Dozens, hundreds, possibly thousands of people will visit your site but without some way to capture their details, how will you follow up with them? Each of these people is a potential scrapbook customer.

The most successful way is using a mailing list management service. For a small monthly fee they’ll handle pretty much everything for you. All you have to do is write one email and they’ll send it, personalized, to all your potential clients.

Offer a freebie as an incentive for people to give you their details and treat these people well. They’ve already expressed an interest in what you do and they’ve given you the opportunity to communicate with them again and again. This is gold dust.

5. Keep it fresh and lively. Again something that’s easier with a blog than a traditional site.

For your scrapbook business site to be successful it has to do its best to interact with your potential clients. Offer holiday specials, add new scrapbook designs, run a contest, run a survey, anything you can think of that will keep a virtual conversation going between you and your visitor.
