Scrapbooking How to – What You Need to Start
The art of scrapbooking dates as far back as to the sixteenth century and has become increasingly popular in recent years. Scrapbooking can be defined as the act of someone gathering different types or memorabilia, including, photos, notes, letters, poems and even trinkets and then compiling these objects in the form of a scrapbook. There are several reasons why scrapbooking is so popular. Firstly, it serves as a pleasant reminder of past good times and then it’s also an entertaining and relaxing hobby. Finally, it is quite affordable making it accessible to just about anybody.
Scrapbooks can be either generalised around ones happy memories, or more focalised to represent a specific theme or occasion. Some of the more popular themes include Halloween, Christmas, Birthdays, Graduation, Weddings, Christenings and Easter. Not only do scrapbooks serve as wonderful nostalgic memoirs, but they are also often made as gifts, which gives an extra personal touch.
How to start a scrapbook
You do not need a lot of materials to get started with scrapbooking. First of all, collect some photos, cut outs, pictures, charms or anything that you would like to put in your scrapbook. The next step is to find a sturdy notebook that will last for a long time and that is well-made. You do not want a poor quality book that will begin to break apart after a few months.
Find some paper that has pretty or creative designs on it or different textures. You will need some glue stick and some PVA craft glue (both of which must be acid free as this can damage the paper or photos). Finally, purchase a few tools to help you with your scrapbooking, such as cutters, trimmers and scissors. Brands like EK and Fiskars produce good quality tools.
Now you can begin assembling your scrapbook. Give your scrap book extra texture by adding dried flowers, buttons or beads for example. The fun part is that you don’t have to rush when you are scrapbooking, take your time, relax and enjoy it.
