Scrapbooking Technique

In order to add special effects to scraps and pages, various scrapbooking techniques are used, one such scrapbooking technique, is inking. This brings some variety into the scrapping style. However care should be taken that the ink is as per your project, and should not be more or less. Scrapbooking needs a lot of creativity, so put on your creative caps and get to scrapbooking, using the various scrap booking techniques.

Some of the supplies required for scrapbooking are, paper for scrapbooking, colored ink pads, sponges, scrapbook cuttings, templates, stamps of your choice. Dab the paper in ink, and turn it at various angles. The paper will get a smudged colored pattern. The uneven areas need to be filled with color by the sponge. Actually the best thing to do is rub the ends of the paper with the ink pad. This gives an appearance of different images on the entire page. More depth is added to the page lay out due to the ink. The scrap book pages get a weathered kind of look due to this. With the insertion of colors, the texture is enhanced. The end points of the pages should be brushed with ink. A stipple brush produces an inking effect to the scrap pages; this works best with papers that are not glossy in nature.

You can use a photograph as a page background, if the photograph is of high texture quality. You can blow it up and use it as the background. The image can be increased or enlarged and it acts as a background. You can also add another photo over the existing one, to add special effects. Ultra sound pictures are not memory safe or acid free. You can use an archival spray for this purpose. This spray is available at ant scrapbook store. If you’re using ultra sound for pictures, be careful not to crop the photo too much, as if you do it could deteriorate in the scrap book.

Using mosaic borders is another great scrapbook technique. It adds more appeal and intrigue to the scrapbook pages. The scraps should be split into squares of equal size. Then as per its color pattern, sort the squares and store it in a zip lock bag. The card stocks should be mounted by highlighting the mortar effects. Use photo tapes to join the squares together. There should be a cross line at the border of the scrapbook page, this connects the double pages.

Avid scrappers use the fibre strands technique, which is extremely popular amongst them. To accentuate the layout of the page, this technique is applied. You can fill the fibres with different colors and designs, using ink. You can also use the scrap for other purposes instead of using them for just photographs. Scraps can be used for sports news, bills, labels, movies etc. These can be mounted on the scrap pages along with photographs.

Another technique that is quite common is piercing, which creates an illusion to the dimensions of the page. Most often stamps are used for piercing to give the layout of the scrap page, the required dimension.
